The Minimum Wage Should Be Raised - 2038 Words

Fighting For Fifteen In America, the current minimum wage sits at $7.25 an hour, but as the cost of living has gone up, the amount paid to some of America’s hardest workers has not. This has left many people working several minimum wage jobs in order to try and get by. This struggle to make it paycheck to paycheck has created an incredibly large economic gap between the rich and poor, something that has largely contributed to the fight for fifteen. With many Americans sitting in the low to middle class demographic, there is plenty of outcry and support for the minimum wage to be raised from $7.25 an hour to anywhere from $10.10 to $15 an hour depending on the city and that city’s specific cost of living. This issue, as most issues do, has pinned many people against each other; some are all for this much needed raise in minimum wage, after all, this raise would help out most of America’s workers. On the other hand however, the consequences of this drastic raise ca n only be speculated about since worker’s pay hasn’t really been messed with since the late sixties. While there are good points in favor of raising minimum wage such as, allowing people to live more comfortably, and getting people off of public assistance programs, there are also the negative aspects about this pending public policy. Some of these cons are a raise in prices, a loss of jobs or hours, and the cutting out of young teenage workers from the job force. IOT Security Issues And Solutions Samples †MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the IOT Security Issues And Solutions. Answer: Description of the challenge The concept of Internet of Things or IoT has received a lot of hype in last decade especially for its scope of implementation. Right from the starting of 2015, there are number of experts that have claimed that they year will existential time for this concept. At the same time, the overall development is sluggish with poor growth owing to IoT safety that has resulted in doubts. There is a wave in the society to prove that there are a lot flaws in the connecting each document with internet. People are obviously very sceptic about it however, there is lack of awareness as well (Ahlmeyer Chircu, 2016). Challenges of Internet of Things or IoT are real and should be addressed first. With time, it has proved that any kind of emerging technology has faced a fair amount of issues. Issues in IoT security are reality since it must not be discouraged people from growing the IoT applications. As a part of development process, any kind of IoT based applications with security as well as testing framework plays a significant part. To create a more secured as well as attack immune internet of things helps in enabling the devices as well as application. The report will address security concerns from IoT and how it can be addressed (Botta et al, 2016). Summary of two peers research paper on IoT Research paper 1 The concept of IoT based security is very like mobile safety which consist of the overall protection of business information as well as personal which can be stored, transmitted and collected from number of devices connects with the internet. This consist of the protection from any kind of malware based threats which has no authority or power to access the device. There three important themes that are present in the academic paper and practitioner investigated for number of IoT related security analysis (Ahlmeyer Chircu, 2016). Firstly, it is important to have call to action based documents that highlight it as the security concern and those using IoT devices must carefully pay some attention on security related issues. Secondly, the technical part of the document also says that can be analyse IoT threats of security and focus on answers as how it can be solved with security challenges impacting IoT. Thirdly, there are number of legal based foundations documents that look at the sec urity as well as privacy regulations along with laws and their overall application to IoT. Research paper 2 IoT Security IoT System Security Issues and Solution Approaches Devices with no communication activity at all are now can be connected easily with nearby network with the help of IoT systems. These kinds of systems also help in discovering the elements that were unseen previously and had also provided new kind of insights. When data was collected through varied connected machineries were analysed in proper manner with new base of information. Such characteristics make the function IoT very promising technique for elevated level of effectiveness by decreasing the overall cost or rise in the level of sales (Tanaka et al, 2016). But the discussion is also based on security threats in IoT activities, the IoT accelerated consortium along with collaborative program with different people from industry has also underscored the requirement for calculating the base for handling following three challenges: - Rise in the number of network connected with IoT devices The challenge of perfect surveillance with manual guide Long life cycle Issues not addressed in research paper Hardware issues: - right from the starting the concept of IoT or Internet of Things based hardware has always an issue. With much hype and immediate interest in IoT machineries like chipmaker like ARM as well as Intel are forcing the processor for elevated level of security with new generation and realistic scene that doesnt look closer to security gap. The issue is with modern level architecture for the chips that made especially for IoT devices and the prices will also go up and make it costlier (Gubbi et al, 2013). The complex design will need more power for battery which is an issue for IoT applications. There are number of affordable kind wearable with IoT devices that wont utilise such kind of chips means that there is requirement for better kind approach. Impact of above discussed issues One crucial factors are that is based on the concept of networking appliances and there are other devices is new, security is not always about prioritizing during design of the products. IoT products are usually have unpatched and old operating systems as well as software. In addition, the end user fails to transform the default kind of passwords on smart devices and normally dont select a strong password. The IoT based devices are provided with distinct kind of identifiers and the capacity to transfer data for network (Jing et al, 2014). The already embedded sensor devices are utilised in industrial communication called as machine to machine with smart energy based grids, home as well as building automation with vehicle communication and wearable devices and other devices for computing for most of communication in IoT. There are number of vulnerabilities that frightening enough to found IoT devices. Thus, the system bought IoT security in addition to the fore. Producers and the users can connect with device that must spend time and try to understand the devices can collect data and information is shared as well as with whom and how data is received. Moreover, when the data is stored is crucial and it includes the stringent for the privacy settings that requires to be activated in accompanying the software. Just like any other device, it is very important to implement the upgraded software and patch the vulnerabilities as well as make sure that all kinds of application related with the computer device is timely and properly updated with any harm occurs (Li Da Xu, 2017). It is also important to note that a hacker can hack the system at any time and they can do so by being from remotest of place. Important lessons The best method to reduce the hardware based security challenges for IoT is to have strong testing framework in various places. Following is the detailed discussion: - Device range: there is coverage based networks with IoT devices is highly paramount. One need to be very particular about the range based metrics for the application. For example, while using Zigbee based technology that helps in empowering the device network that one will have to measure about number of repeaters that one need to settle to give range of communication range for the machineries. However, it is also important to understand that one cannot put any number on repeater blindly since rise in number of repeaters the ability of the system reduction (Sicari et al, 2015). Thus, device range also evaluates will enable people to find the right spot where one can increase the range without reaching the breaking point. Capacity and latency: the capacity is based on bytes per second also called as bps and it handles the speed of the network while the concept of latency also denotes the complete time spent on transferring the data that exist between the endpoint of application. It is important that developers always look for methods to rise the capacity of the IoT application to boost the level of performance. Issues in several factors is inversely proportionate and it resulted in improving the level of degrades than other. There are data intensive devices as well which can be applied and tested thoroughly for right balance in capacity and latency (Farooq et al, 2015). Manufacturing test: it is rare that company build IoT device right from the starting on their own. Many time, companies will use elements and modules that are manufactured by other in the application. Evaluation of such modules on your own for right kind of functioning is very crucial. The produces always assemble the line based testing from their end however one must properly verify it beforehand (Roman et al, 2013). In addition, while putting all kind of modules at one place or on a board based evaluation is needed to ensure that there are no mistakes that are introduced due to wiring. The evaluation of manufacturability is crucial to ensure the applications that can work as per its intentions. References Ahlmeyer, M., Chircu, A. M. (2016). Muscular Disorders Case Report free essay sample

A mother presents with her 13 y/o son with a history of frequent falls, difficulty getting up from a lying or sitting position, trouble jumping, large calf muscles and poor grades in school. Based on the description and symptoms given, the likely diagnosis would be Duchenne’s muscular dystrophy, or DMD; although DMD and its symptoms tend to show up at an earlier age but not always. This type of muscular dystrophy is the most common and severe form of the dystrophinopathic diseases. Dystrophinopathic diseases are muscular dystrophies that are of a genetic nature caused by a deficiency in the protein dystrophin. This protein is vital to muscle function and contraction. In the case of DMD, there is a mutation in the gene, called the DMD gene, responsible for producing dystrophin causing a deficiency. This gene mutation is X-linked recessive and is inherited. This means that females in the family carry the gene mutation and can pass is on to their offspring male or female, but it is expressed in the males. We will write a custom essay sample on Muscular Disorders Case Report or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page DMD is usually diagnosed when a young boy shows signs of muscle weakness and there is a family history of the disease. Per Genome (2010), â€Å"a muscle biopsy for dystrophin studies can also be done to look for abnormal levels of dystrophin in the muscle. † Genome (2010), also states that â€Å"genetic testing on a blood sample for changes in the DMD gene can help establish the diagnosis of Duchenne’s muscular dystrophy without performing a muscle biopsy. † For most individuals, a combination of these testing methods is used to confirm a diagnosis of DMD. There is no known cure for DMD. Treatment involves treating the symptoms and keeping the patient as comfortable as possible. Medline (2012) says that â€Å"steroid drugs can slow the loss of muscle strength and may be started when the child is diagnosed or when muscle strength begins to decline. † Other drugs, such as Albuterol, can be used to control breathing problems that occur in the later stages of the disease and drugs to help with heart functions are prescribed to help control any cardio symptoms that may be present. The prognosis for individuals with DMD is bleak; it is a rapidly progressive disease and patients with DMD usually surrender to the disease or complications from it in their 20’s or 30’s, sometimes even earlier. I grew up with a family next door to me in which the two oldest boys had DMD. The disease eventually took both of their lives. The oldest boy did live long enough to graduate from high school but the younger of the two died from complications when he was 16. It was horrible for the family to stand by and watch their sons slowly decline and eventually die. This disease continued to plague their lives when the daughters passed it on to their boys and probably still plagues them today. There have been great strides in the field of research in regards to DMD but as of yet no cure has been found. Hopefully one day, there will be a cure for this devastating, debilitating disease and no more families will be forced to watch their children die right before their eyes.

Matriarchy In Cuckoos Nest essays

Matriarchy In Cuckoo's Nest essays Until modern times, society advocated that a man's role was at work, while a woman was required to stay home and assume the role of the main caregiver. Men were given power and authority, and women, conversely, were expected to be meek and subservient. These roles extended beyond the family and out into society, and materialized in areas such as education, politics, and occupations. In One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Ken Kesey uses the reversal of these stereotypical gender roles to demonstrate the chaotic and sometimes tragically comic world of a mental institution. In the novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey, the women are the power figures and are able to significantly manipulate the patients on the ward, as shown by the characters of Nurse Ratched, Mrs. Bibbit, and Vera Harding. Nurse Ratched, whose power is expressed in bluntly sexual terms despite her attempts to deny her sexuality, maintains her position as the sloe voice of authority on the ward by suppressing the patients' laughter. The men under her jurisdiction use sexual references when talking about her, and after the first group therapy session the new admission R.P. McMurphy calls her a "ball-cutter." The nurse attempts to hide her sexuality, and the schizophrenic Chief Bromden first brings the reader's attention to this denial in saying, "A mistake was made somehow in manufacturing, putting those big, womanly breasts on what otherwise would have been a perfect work, and you can see how bitter she is about it." (Kesey 11) Nurse Ratched's ultimate authority on the ward stems from the fact that she controls people who would normally be her superiors, namely Dr. Spivey, who Dale Harding says is, "'exactly like the rest of us. . .completely conscious of his inadequacy. He's a frightened, desperate, ineffectual little rabbit, totally incapable of running this ward without our Miss Ratched's help and he knows it. And, worse, she knows he knows it and reminds...

Today’s competitive economy, prosperity in tourism is greatly determined by understanding tourist behavior and integrating them to marketing strategy. This enables reduction of negative impacts during their tour, stay and interactions between the tourist and hosts. Tourist behavior emer ges from the social, cultural and environmental systems. Balanced Critique The essay lacks an introduction that would define tourism, numerous grammatical errors, lack in consistency of citation styles, and the brilliant ideas are either repeated over and over and lacks flow in his/her presentation. Although the first paragraph provides misconception of information, the author explains on the different reasons for travelling varying from education, trade and pleasure. He/she outlines the benefits of tourism to include improvement of infrastructure, creation of employment, and social interaction among many others. He/she is also right to say that every traveler has expectations and always share their experiences with their loved ones. This implies that they play a great role in promoting tourism industry. Therefore tourist’s satisfaction should be the first priority o every marketer and hence all their suggestions, comments and recommendation should be put into consideration. Second paragraph categorizes tourist based on their behavior. Those tourists who visit environmental related –nature biased-, they visit beaches, waterfalls, forest, (Swarbrookes, 1999). Academics and marketers have grouped tourists together according to the characteristics they share. The importance of the grouping (typologies) embrace prediction of tourism trends, aid in product development and pricing of commodities (Swarbrooke Horner, 2007, p5). These typologies reflect individual’s interests. Four Typologies are identified, two of non institutionalized roles; grafter and explorer and two institutionalized namely; organized mass tourist and individual tourist. (Cohen, 1972). Typologies also describe market niches to promote and advertise the market accordingly. Conclusion To conclude, it is important to note that tourists’ behaviors are based on individual preferences and goals. These may include influences from families and friends, perceived risks and the environment. Their behavior could also be associated with the unpleasant challenges such as global inequity, distribute justice, poverty alleviation, fuel shortage and climate change. Therefore, the status, role and behavior of tourists are being interrogated, that is their roles to the problems and their solution. Moreove r, tourism should be sustained so that tourists can enjoy their vacation and respect the environment and culture. The main aim of tourism should be in bringing a positive impact to the society, industry, nation and the tourist themselves. References Andreu. L, Bigne.E Cooper.C (2000). The Effects of Equal Employment oppertunity legislation Research Paper

The Effects of Equal Employment oppertunity legislation - Research Paper Example The Act intended to eliminate discrimination in all areas of life overcoming the past unequal orthodox social set up. For the enforcement of these laws Congress established the enforcement authority EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunities Commission). The laws currently enforced by the EEOC include Title VII of the Civil Right Act 1964, the amendment which appears in volume 42 of the US code. It prohibits employment discrimination based on color, race, religion, sex and national origin. Other laws related to the EEO legislation are Equal Pay Act of 1963, Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, Americans with disabilities act of 1990, Civil Rights Act of 1991, Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The laws cover all areas of possible discriminations like age, disability, national origin, race, religion, sex, and also ensure the prevention of sexual harassment and retaliation. The laws also insist to implement equal payment system with out any discrimination (Federal Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Laws). All these legislations brought about drastic changes in US labor market. The enforcement of these la ws has altered the social context of hiring, firing and promoting. It covers all areas of employee – employer relationship from advertising, open position through termination or retirement. The law insists that the disabled also must be given opportunities based on their education and other skills. The EEO legislation has proved how the diversity qualities like age, race, religion, sex etc. can be utilized by an organization as their support of business objectives. Teams or organizations with greater diversity enjoy the availability of a richer set of ideas, perspectives and approaches to deal a business issue. Many employers today get benefited by the talented segments of work force in the competitive global economy. Diversity provides the possibility for greater innovation and
